Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and considering us to be the parents of your child. As you get to know us, you will come to realize that we are a loving couple with much to offer a child. As a teacher of the blind and visually impaired, I am passionate about my field and the children I work with. Kevin loves working with computers and is so lucky to have a job in that field. He is an amazing husband and will be a wonderful dad. He has so much to share and teach.
We live in a great community for raising a child. Our neighborhood is safe and secure. We love spending time as a couple and with my family who live close. We love to travel, and we love playing with our dog, Digory. We are so grateful to you for being so selfless and strong in making an adoption plan. We look forward to getting to know more about you as well, as we continue this journey together.
Love at first sight…
Well, not exactly at first sight, we new each other a long time before we ever fell in love. We met in college when I was a junior and he was a freshman. We were just friends and then one day it just became more. There are so many memories that I will never forget. The details are vivid in my mind, every look, every touch, and every moment. I remember how he asked me in such a nervous, yet laid back way if I wanted to go to the symphony. From the beginning, we could be real with each other and we weren't afraid to be ourselves. We had so many dates in Atlanta to places such as the symphony, the Shakespeare Tavern, Centennial Olympic Park, the Aquarium, the Planetarium, and so many others. I remember how it felt to say, "I love you" for the first time. And, the feeling of seeing him get down on one knee to propose. We are best friends and love each other deeply. We can't wait to share this overwhelming love with our child.
Kevin and Tracy…
Kevin and I have many common loves. We love music, movies, books, and traveling. Kevin plays guitar and I sing. We have had the opportunity to travel to many places around the world. I have traveled for mission trips to Brazil and England. Kevin and I have traveled together to England, San Francisco, Washington DC, Costa Rica, and many places close to home. I enjoy writing, drawing, painting and anything involving crafts. Kevin likes to play video games, work on computers, and collect Lego's. We are excited to share all our hobbies and interests with our child.
We both love reading and my favorite book as a child was The Giver by Lois Lowry. As a teenager I fell in love with Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte. I also love all young adult fiction and often frequent that section of the bookstore. Kevin loves classics like Dickens, science fiction like Ray Bradbury, and fantasy like Tolkien. One of our traditions is that we read The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens every Christmas season. We both cannot wait to read to our child and help him/her develop a love of literature.
Family is so important to both of us and we are lucky that my family is close by. We love spending time with them. My sister and I are very close and she has three children, two boys and a girl. We get to do so many things with our nephews and niece, like going to the pumpkin patch in the fall, visiting the park, and enjoying holidays together.
Kevin’s family lives in Kentucky, but we usually get to see them twice a year. Kevin's family lives in an area with many opportunities to learn and explore. We had so much fun last summer visiting Mammoth Cave. I remembered thinking how wonderful it will be to share that experience with our child.
Our families are so supportive of our decision to adopt and are waiting patiently to meet our new addition.
Our home is in the city limits of a beautiful historic town within the Metro Atlanta area. We live in a small residential neighborhood with sidewalks, street lamps, and many young families with children. The children in our neighborhood love to ride their bikes and play in our cul-de-sac. Nearby are small businesses, many parks, our local library, and other various family-friendly places to visit. We have an outdoor mall, movie theaters, a bowling alley, a skating rink, miniature golf, and laser tag. We are also surrounded by excellent award-winning schools. In addition, my parents live nearby in a more rural area with several acres of land, providing a child room to explore and play.
Kevin and I greatly desire to be parents. We want so many things for our child. We want him/her to feel security, stability, comfort, trust, and above all love. We want our child above all things to not only know that he/she is loved by many, but that he/she is also loved by God. We want our child to know he/she is chosen and precious.
Kevin and I cannot begin to understand the emotions you are feeling as you consider adoption for you child. We applaud your courage and love for your child as you contemplate and face this difficult and selfless decision. We have prayed patiently for so long and we want you to know how much we appreciate your trust and consideration of us as a family for your child.
Please feel free to contact us by phone or email if you would like to talk or meet.
